Wrongful Expired Meter Ticket in Venice, CA

Hi everyone,

I was wrongfully issued an expired meter parking ticket. I had 58 minutes on the meter, went for a walk on Venice beach and returned to my car about half an hour later. I noticed there was still 24 minutes on the meter. I got in and drove off. After I had driven a ways, I noticed a parking ticket. I went back to check (yep, still 18 minutes left on my meter) to make sure I wasn't nuts. Ridiculous!

Any ideas? What is the name of your state?

Q: Any ideas?

A: Yes. Pay the ticket. It's cheaper than fighting it. (See Don Quixote.)

Had you actually been their longer than that, but plugged more money in the meter? Maybe there is a time limit and they chalked your tire, which confirmed that you had not moved your vehicle during the allowed time limit.

Cool

Most of the time when this happens in my town, it's because money was put in the wrong meter. If you know at which meter you parked, compare the meter number to the one on your ticket.

No.

Chalking tires is chalking tires.

It's a way to tell how long the parker has been there.

"Entrapment" refers (generally) to the cops MAKING you or INTICING you to commit a crime.

Unhappy

prima facie

Unfortunately, parking tickets are prima facie (Evident without proof or reasoning; obvious---) this means that you have burden to prove that the there was something wrong with the ticket.

*******************************

prima facie case
n. Law
A case in which the evidence presented is sufficient for a judgment to be made unless the evidence is contested.
