Are you "parked" if the car is running?I live in Chicago, Illinois. This morning I pulled in front of my house to let the car warm up and went inside. I live in a residential parking permit area but have yet to get a sticker. I got a ticket while the car was running out in front. Isn't that considered "standing" not "parking"? |

| You left the vehicle so its considered parking.

| Not sure it really makes any difference. I would have to look up Chicago municipal codes but "standing" and "parking" are often used synonymously with no distinction between the two in many places. Regardless, you were parked. |

| Certainly an unattended vehicle is parked unless it is rolling down the road. Did you at least have it locked? This newsletter from Yorkville mentions a state statue about leaving an unattended vehicle running http://yorkville.il.us/newsletters/nwdec2005.pdf |
