Filing a Disclosure Document Deposit Request

What is the name of your state? CO

I’ll be sending in a Disclosure Document Deposit Request form on a new idea that is a modification of an existing patent. To make my Disclosure Document simpler and faster, is it ok for me to refer to the existing patent number and then describe how my idea differs?

Or do I need to create an entirely new concept for my deposit?

By referring to the existing patent, do I weaken my defense for my newer / better / different idea?
