What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? Wisconsin

I have a U.S. Design patient. It is in my name only. It has a 14 year term. I am in the process of talking with manifacturing for licensing and royalties. My question is, How do I, or my family protect my legacy if I pass away? Do I need to include the patent info in my will, or is it seperate and needs to be taken care of by my attorney. My husband thinks that someone could take it/ buy it after my death because it is in my name only. If my family pays to keep the patents fee updated for another 14 years, is there a chance we could loose it?? Thanks in advance. Gwnevre

A patent becomes part of your estate at death, you can will it to your heirs.
You can also assign it to some sort of trust or other independent entity that would take care of it.
