I live in New York and the estate is in New York.

How can I findout what my obligations and authority are for being a court appointed administrator of an estate?

Barnes and Nobles has good books on probate. Also check on line in your state statutes. NY probate is listed under Surrogate court.

Ask the clerk of the court for statute references on probate; also, ask the NY state bar for publications on the duties of personal representatives.

You have a very important job!
