What is the name of your state? Louisiana

If investment portfolios have beneficiary designations and are also included in a Will, but split differently, which takes precedence? The beneficiary designations would have been done long before the Will. (I understand IRAs and Insurance Policies beneficiaries take precedence over what is in a Will.) Thank you.

The beneficiary designation always takes priority over the will. Whoever drafted the will needs to either revise the will or revise the beneficiary designations to make sure they reflect true wishes in order to avoid confusion amongst the executor and beneficiaries.

Thanks for responding, Dandy Don. There is already too much confusion about this, my dad's will. Because he had a Will and his investment accounts were listed in it, no one at the brokerage firm or our attorney's office visited the matter of beneficiaries on anything except IRAs and Insurance.
