What is the name of your state?Adams county, Colorado....
------------question. I sent a "demand for notice" on the VALUE of the final
liquidated estate(deceased dad)of final value accounting. sent this to my sister , who
is the PR, who lives in WA state, but she refuses any cash dollar money
amount data, and bank account info or any info on dollar value of dad's estate.
#1-Can she be forced to reveal what she got?(I got $100?)
I sent the county court for their records, and the court case records make
no mention of any dollar value of the estate whatsoever. All I know is the
sale price of the house given me by the county.
The P.R., my sister, also refuses to communicate in any way with me about
my father's life.
#2-Does publication of notice to heirs, required by law, mean that a
small unknown local paper(a few pages, no-one ever heard of it),
constitute legal publication in a city like Denver,
where everybody reads only the Denver Post or Rocky Mtn News????
.....I am beyond furious that sis will share NOTHING because I am on
welfare and my sis is a millionaire, living on a private island.

Is the estate being probated now or is probate officially over? If probate is not finished yet you still may be receiving something when probate is finished.

Notice of publication was a bit sneaky but it does satisfy the requirements that publication take place, and person who places the notice can pick any newspaper they choose.

It is possible that the assets may have been put into a trust, therefore avoiding probate. I will have to do some research to find out what rights you may have as a possible trust beneficiary to get information about the trust from the trustee and will post a follow-up later on.

Is it possible that sis got power of attorney from dad during his last months alive and could have squirreled away some of the assets?

probate case closed, P.R. won't tell value

The case is closed according to the papers I saw from Adams county
colorado. THere is NO MENTION of dollar value whatsoever and the P.R.
won't write back and tell me. She did reply to the "demand for notice" with
copies of the Brighton Blade classified ad she placed and misc. worthless
facts, but no mention of what was in bank accounts or stock accounts or
other financial resources. Her only comment: "your father was NOT a rich
man" and "the house was full of junk". Beyond that I can find nothing
except the $160,000 house cash sale record from Adams County, CO.

......let me put it this way....my sister, who lives in Bainbridge Island WA
where the cheapest house is a half million, ....is NOT a warm fuzzy lady!
thanks for your thoughts...looks like nobody else is enthused with my post!

You need to go read the court file in Adams county. I suspect, however, that the time for contesting this case has passed. Call legal aid in Denver; maybe they can point you to a pro bono lawyer to help you.
