What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? California
I am an heir to an estate of $500,000 and the atty is asking the court for 50%. Is that legal? What would be a fair fee?

Perhaps the estate's attorney is not aware of Probate Code Section 10810 and following. It should be interesting to find out how the court receives his request.

Did the personal representative sign the petition? Please keep us informed.
