Dad passed away without will

What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? wa
I live in the state of WA and my dad lived in AZ. I'm the only child living and he was divorced. He has real property and taxes are due soon, and owes back debts. I can't afford to hire an attorney or pay his debts, so this means that this will go through probate. After all this mess is straightend out and if there is money left over, will it go to me or the state? He has a safe deposit box, but I'm unable to get into it cuz I'm not listed on it. Is there any way I can get into it to see if there was a will? Can the bank keep the safe deposit box?

I assumed the creditors would open probate. He owes past debts. One creditor found out by other sources that he has passed away and already addressed the estate. I can't afford to pay that creditor off.

they might but then again maybe not. Then what? Having no idea what any creditor is owed, they may find it not worth the trouble to bother.

If nobody opens probate, after a period of time, the assets will very likely es cheat to the state.
