What is the name of your state?Illinois

If there is not enought money left in an estate to pay executor fees, are the beneficiaries required to pay them out of their personal money? Thank you for your help.

No, but it would be a nice gesture for them to offer to do so. Look at the accounting to determine why the executor fees weren't deducted before beneficiaries were paid. Is the executor asking the beneficiaries to do this or is someone else asking for this?

Thank you for your response. The beneficiaries won't be getting anything either. A house that will be sold for less than the mortgage and enough cash to barely pay the legal fees are the the only assets in the estate. Beneficiaries and executor are not on a friendly basis.
