The house was bought and paid for before the marriage and alot of his farm equipment also was before the marriage. He has been saving money since before she came along 4 years ago and he also has tractors and money that he received from his mother as part of his inheritance. She wont give us any information.

We also suspect foul play in his death with her being the prime suspect. There is a formal investigation underway and she does not have a clue.

Investigate how the property was deeded, and what his will says. After debts are all paid, he can give his stuff to anyone that he wants to, or donate to charity.

If no will, then google search intestate laws in Louisiana.

Without will:

Surviving Spouse with children (or their descenents)

A.) Spouse takes 1/2 community property plus usufruct of the other 1/2 until death or remariage

B.) Children or their descendents take 1/2 community property (Subject to the mother's usufruct) and all separate property.
