My mom died in 1998. I am and was, at the time of her death, the only surviving child. Am I considered her only heir? She had no real property. Since her death, I have been receiving occasional checks in an asbestos-related claim. Does anyone else have heirship rights, i.e. grandchildren from my brother who died in 1987.What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)?
