What is the name of your state? What is the name of your state? What is the name of your state?Texas. The estate in question has been in probate for over two years and it is the attorney's office who is holding up disbursement, as opposed to the executor. Whenever we call they have given several of the heirs different stories (including "You didn't even know her!") How are probate attorneys paid? and what possible reason could they have for holding up disbursement?

Attorneys are paid according to the terms of the contract that the client has signed and agreed to.

This is an unanswerable question here in cyberspace. Only the executor (aka the client of the attorney) is the one with which the attorney deals. It is up to the executor to find out the answer to this question and/or fire the attorney.
