What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? AL

The inventory list was presented to the attorney handling the Will in Probate Court. The PR says she didn't give the attorney the bank statements, only the bank account numbers. Which would suffice, I believe, since the attorney will probably get the latest activity on the accounts. Why not give him all the statement like she did the beneficiaries I have no idea.

The PR is stating that she has the life insurance policies of the deceased and she is waiting her PR papers from the Probate Court to be able to call the insurance companies to see who the beneficiaries are on the policies. The PR states the attorney has nothing to do with the life insurance policies so she will handle and distribute them herself to the proper beneficiaries. How do the beneficiaries know and the probate attorney know that she has done this correctly? In other words, the family wants to know if she would be held to some accountability?

You don't have to be concerned about her accountability in this instance. The insurance companies will issue the checks ONLY to the designated beneficiaries, and if there are no designated beneficiaries the checks will be payable to the estate. It's a little bit odd that the beneficiary information supposedly wasn't included along with the other paperwork, but I guess that does happen sometimes.

Yes it is a bit odd that the information wasn't included with the other paperwork!! The family in essence is unsure if this PR will come forth with all of the policies for the named beneficiaries and not withhold any policies as she, the PR, is a quite ticked at one of her sisters getting more than 1/2 of the estate and 1/3 of the second half of the estate.

People fail to realize that the heirs didn't write the Will!! The sister was willing to split her share with the PR and the other sibling; but they have questioned her so about what she will be giving them that the sister has been rethinking doing anything at all.

The family thanks you for your reply.
