probate ?

What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? TX

This was posted to the probate file. " POSTED NOTICE
INTERESTED PERSONS served 10/14/2009 returned 10/15/2009"

I'm curious what that means. Does it mean that interested persons have been served or that the process to serve them has been initiated? Also, I guess the will is now viewable. If I go to the court to view must I pay for copies or can I just have a look? AND... If I go for a look will my name be recorded for any/all to see that I have viewed the will. Thanks.What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)?

Yes you can go to the courthouse for a look at the will and your name will not be recorded--it is public record for ANYONE to be able to see the will. Interested persons means persons who have been named as beneficiaries in the will and that they have been sent notification by certified mail or regular mail.

Thanks, Dandy Don, for the reply. I wondered about the wording and how the process goes along, I guess. What is actually "served" on one day and "returned" on the next day? Seems anything posted by mail would not be turned around that fast so it must be some arcane wording of the process? Thanks again.

It might be sent by mail, or it might be delivered to you in person by hand if the person delivering it knows how to locate you in the daytime or nighttime or it may be simply left on your doorstep or taped to your front door.
