What is the name of your state? Kansas

I lived with mother and was her only heir. We are in the process of sorting things out with no will.

She supported me and I used her credit cards after she died, and have every intention of paying them in full when I get my life insurance.I did not touch her bank accounts. How much trouble am I in if I tell them right out I will pay them?

And do I have to go thru probate in the absence of a will?

You will need to go through probate if the bank accounts do not name you or anyone else as beneficiary of the accounts. Have you checked with the bank about this aspect?

Are you referring to a life insurance policy that will be paying you upon the death of your mother? Telling the credit card companies you will be paying them soon will not get you in trouble, but don't tell them where the money is coming from.
