What is the name of your state? Pennsylvania.
My mother-in-law died over a year ago. We sold her home 7 months ago, and some how the attorney who is we chose to handle the estate ended up with the check from the sale of her home, and says he put it in escrow. He has done nothing but give us the run around, and the estate has yet to be closed. First of all in November, he was to have filed the estate taxes, said it would take about 4 or 5 weeks to be returned. Well, on December 30th, he calls and says he made a mistake, hadn't filed our taxes, thought he did, but it was another estate. (HELLO??? RED FLAG HERE!) And since that time it has just been one thing after another. Last week, we recieved a letter from him wanting us to explain $10.71 deposit into the estate account, that I hadn't logged into the register, wanted to know where it came from, and where did it go. Next he said there was $140.25 discrepencey in the total amount logged into the ledger, wanted to know, had we made out a check or checks and did not register it, and if so, check numbers and amounts, and where did it go. What can we do? He is stalling over less that $200. But he's holding the check for the sale of the house. We believe that he had invested or lost the money. Any advice would be greatly apperciated!!!!
