Where to look for assets and debts?

What is the name of your state? TX

I may soon be appointed as independent administrator of an intestate probate estate. The process seems simple on the surface: inventory, pay bills, distribute assets. But....

How do I discover "undocumented" assets or debts such as safe deposit boxes, out of state property, etc?

I assume I should start with a credit report, and then search county records of current and prior residences, but is there a checklist or road map for administration of intestate estates somewhere?

Go to a local bookstore or library and check out a book about how to be an executor for wills and the information you seek will be in there.
