How long does it take after a person dies for the will to be read? My Mom died this month in NJ, her only asset is a home she owned, it was paid for in full, which she paid the property taxes on but my sister and her family lived with her for over 15 years rent free, they paid the utilities. I am not sure of my legal rights to the home. If she left the home to them and they turn around and sell it I guess I lose out.
