arkansas probation violated-help

What is the name of your state Arkansas. I need help-advice. my sister was arrested for an old fine that she did not pay and her probation officer violated her. make a long story short, she called her po officer a dozen of times with the number that her po gave her and her po would not answer her calls or call her back to set up an appointment. my sisters po is pose to come to our home town to see her but every time my sister would go in to see her, she wouldn't be there and when she called no answer but a machine and the po never calls back. and now my sister is arrested for an old fine and probation violation. what is going to happen to her? will she go off to prison or is there a way we can fight this in court?

The fine and the violation are 2 seperate issues. The 1st thing you would have to do is pay the fine. The next step is dealing with the violation. It sounds like she was violated for not staying in contact, which is a technical violation. Unless this is something that has happened before, most likely the judge will release her at her next court date. Probation violation issues are very hard to fight, most times you lose. If she does not have a history of technical violations and has no new criminal charges, than she has a decent shot. If you have the resources you could always consult with a criminal defense attorney.goodluck.
