Community service, then dismissal?

What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? KY. My lawyer went to court for me to the arrainment and was able to talk to the prosecuter and she was able to talk to the officer that wrote the citation. Apparently the offiicer is intending to lie under oath....he's claiming I said a lot of things that he didn't put on the citation. Instead of risking a trial because my word against his I have little chance, cause let's face it cops are Gods, even though they have no problems lying in court. They said if I'd do 5 hours of community service they would dismiss the charge. Seems odd I do 5 hours community service.and they dismiss it?? Like I'm admitting guilt but getting it dismissed too? Has anyone ever heard of this? Another attorney said they do this all the time but like I said it sounds very odd.

I'm livid but the expense of a trial and the likely hood of me winning is slim since its just my word against his....no other evidence except another cop that signed as a witness, but he came up late and heard nothing, as if there was something to hear. Guess he'd lie too. It's not even a misdemeanor for the first offense just a violation but I don't want it on my record.

Thank-you

Yes, plea deals like this are common. A lot of times they offer 1st time offenders a dismissal in exchange for a guilty plea. However, you should be aware that the matter will not be dismissed immediately. Than a lot of times after it is dismissed it often still shows up on a records check and you have to pay additional money to get it removed.goodluck.
