i was with someone who stole a car but didn't know because he had keys charged with criminal possesion of stolen property can this felony be dropped to a misdemeanor ? also im 17 years old with one prior encounter with the law which is a marijuana violation.

You need a lawyer. Charges don't just get dropped to misdemeanors because you wish they will.
If you have some sort of a defense you should be discussing it with him, not on bulletin boards.
The assertion is that you knew or should have known that the car was stolen. "Keys" probably aren't going to be exculpatory.
