Felony Sentence Question

What would be the most obvious sentence for a Felony Theft charge of $4,000, seeing its the persons first offense.

Is there a chance of getting off on just probation? What makes probation more likely? Thanks

Being called a Low life trailer trash dumbazz redneck loser in public would be a good start.

Then forcing him to listen to Zamfir, playing his Magical Whimsical pan flute... everyday, for the next 6 months while he pays off his $4000 debt.

No, that is not it. And no one can tell you what the most likely sentence will be.

Every state has a range of punishment for each classified crime ranging from probation to years in prison and restitution. But for anyone to give you a definative answer would be irresponsible.

The only person who can give you this answer would be the prosecutor who is handling the case. Because he knows what he is asking for. But even this isn't going to get you a definative answer because the judge may think of something more or less.

Does he have the $4000 in cash to pay off the debt today? If so then he might be able to bargain his way to a lesser sentence.

No one knows for sure....but unless the judge is getting senile, no one is just going to let him get away with this with a slap on the wrist and a payment schedule.
