What is the name of your state? NY

My question is if you plea-bargain a crime to like a public disorder charge. Then lets say you get caught for the same crime down the road. Will they know of your original crime or just what you plea-bargained it down to?

Can someone explain how this works? Because that would really suck to get caught again for the same crime and they know this is your second offence. So will a plea-bargain make them not know about your crime in the past and you can just plea it down again?

***You are going to have to put on a good act here and pretend that you don't even know what a plea bargain is, least they suspect you have done it before. Get a haircut and put on a nice business suit and tie. Do not have cigarettes or alcohol on your breath, be very polite and smile a lot. Above all, do not tell anyone about the first time and you should be ok.

the police will know everything about your prior arrests and convictions.

The point is to stay out of trouble.

*** Yes. They (police and prosecutor) will have access to your complete record, including charges and pleas.

"Can someone explain how this works?"
*** How what works???
In this wonderful age of computerized records, your entire criminal history is available to anyone who has a right to access it.

"Because that would really suck to get caught again for the same crime and they know this is your second offence. So will a plea-bargain make them not know about your crime in the past and you can just plea it down again?"
*** Nope. And you will very likely NOT even get a chance to plea it. And if found guilty, you will get the punishment of the 'repeat' crime. That is what it is all about.... punishment as a deterrent. Didn't work for you though, huh??

Question, even if you get it ACD or a fine that says the ticket will be dismissed in 6 months, they will still know about your first offense?

I mean I thought the whole thing with plea bargain is if your really innocent of the first crime but plea it, they don't know if your guilty or not, how can they hold you liable a second time? They never proved anything the first time.

"They never proved anything the first time."
*** And they don't have to. The 'plea' you bargained was that you pled GUILTY to the crime in return for a reduced charge or set sentencing.
