What is the name of your state? Mi

My friend and I both got mips recently and we have an arraignment on Oct. 7th. We got free legal advice but are still unsure of what to do. We know that if we plead guilty we will be charged with the misdemeanor of an m.i.p. and be given a charge....but will we have to pay court fees? We also don't know if it's worth if to plead not guilty and either hire a lawyer or defend ourselves in pre-trial to try to get a lesser charge. But if we don't get the charge lessened then we have to go to trial i guess? I guess I'm just looking for advice from someone who knows more about this than me.
