Not showing up for court?

What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? MI

My sister lives in Owosso, MI. She called my Mom for help because she wanted to leave her abusive boyfriend, so my Mom flew up there from FL. The boyfriend was on parole for who knows what and after 5 days of trying to leave with my Mom, a neighbor finally called the cops and he was arrested. Apparently my sister was beaten and forced to swallow pills. My sister wants to come back to FL and live, however the police and a friend told her that if she doesn't show up for the trial against this guy, they will file a bench warrant against my sister for false arrest? Is there any truth to this? We just want her to be able to come home and forget this guy. Will she have to fly back up to MI for a trial and face him again?
Any help is appreciated. thank you.

She can only get in trouble if she was served a subpeona and ignores it.A citizen cannot be charged with false arrest because she did not arrest anyone falsely or otherwise.
