sentencing

sounds more like judge sentence him to 8 years but suspended 4 years plus 3 years of probation after his release from the state prision. you definitely can suspend 8 years from a 4 year sentencing.

But, for commonwealth of connecticut, you must do 75% of your time if this was his first convicition. if second conviction, 95% of actual time.

answer:

4 years x .75 = 36 months or 3 years
4 years x .95 = 45.4 months or 3 years and 9 months approx.
