What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? Utah, quick question with plea of abuyance. I took a plea of abuyance for a lewdness ticket I got for mooning a friend in the other car. About 2 years ago. I had no other crimes against me and was my first time I had ever been to court. I now have grown up a bit and want to apply for a job as a police officer at a local department. Only problem is any one with a conviction is inelligable for 5 years. Was I convicted of a crime although I tool a plea of abauyance.

Plea IN abeyance.
If you successfully completed all the conditions of the plea, your charge should have been dismissed and hence NO conviction. I'd be forthcoming with the application process, however. They will find out about the plea. Better that it looks like you are honest rather than trying to hide it.
