What is the name of your state?
I live in California and applied for a sales position which required me to sign a background approval through Trans Union. The question didn't ask about if I had certain felonies which I didn't and did not say anything about a misdemeanor which I do for petty theft. So I answered no to the question but became aprehensive with the fact that it might appear. So I wrote a letter to the interviewer and was honest about it all.

This misdemeanor occured back in 3/98 and I was convicted with 3 years probation. Can I get this expunged? Does this mean it gets cleared from my record? If so, how long do reporting agencies keep this on file. Do I still have to answer yes to this question on applications? It was a one time offense. Help Please!
