California. I was wondering is it against the law to leave a child at a field trip with out trying to go get him? or with out notifing his/her parents that they had left him/her?

If the school took the kids on a field trip and came back without your child, I think you might have a potential lawsuit -- and you certainly would have a legitimate complaint.

You didn't say anything about the circumstances, so that's about as specific an answer as you'll get for now.

If you provide more details, we might be able to give you a more specific answer.
