My late husband and I were married 14 years. We both shared equally all expenses that we incurred in purchasing homes over these years. One half of every home we owned was mine. However the home was mine to remain in until my death. at which time his children and mine will share equally...50% to his 3 and 50% to my 4. My question is this: Since his death I have added a deck which cost me $3500. I also pay property Taxes of $1400 a year and wondered if it was legal for me to put in my will that any expenses like property taxes or repairs should be deducted from the portion that his children receive upon my death.
