my sister is the executor to my fathers will. we want to change this so that I may handle our fathers affairs after she returns home (out of state). Is there a simple way to accomplish this? Corpus Christi TX

Is your father living or deceased?

Where did the death occur?

Does your sister know and agree with your desire to change the executorship?

There may be no need to change it if she still wants to be the executor and will soon be back in town to handling things. Are you wanting a permanent change or just a temporary change?

Only a local probate attorney can advise you on how to do this.

My mother listed my brother-in-law and me as co-executors. He lived almost 600 miles away and could not really be a part of the estate decisions.

Our lawyer had him sign a notarized document "resigning" as co-executor. It was that simple.
