My dad is 75 years old, and he is is a recepient of SSI benefits and Medicaid and Medicare.
A year ago he was hit by a car, had a broken heap, and consequently the heap replacement surgery.
The personal injury law suit is about to be settled, and my dad may be eligible to receive about $50,000 compensation.
The QUESTION is this: if he recieves these monies and sets up a Supplemental Needs Trust (for exampe with me or my brother as the trustee), will he still be eligible for ALL the benefites that he gets now?
And if the answer to the above question is "YES", will he be required to cover from this Trust certain expences, like, Medicaid or Medicare?
Hope, my question is "answerable"
Best regards and thanks in advance.
