What is the name of your state? Maryland. Old boyfried sued in District Court, I lost. Check for judgement sent to him 02/02, return receipt received by me. Check has not been cashed, to date. Bank wants to stop payment (cashier's check). Notified him, no response. Notified court, they say get a lawyer. What recourse will he have if the bank stops payment? What is the time limit on him cashing the check? This is ruining my credit, what recourse do I have?

Unfortunately, he will have to not only cash the check, but also satisfy the judgment at the courthouse. There is a form for that, he must be the one to fill it out and file it.

There is no limit as to when the creditor has to cash the check. I would 1) write him certified RRR and tell him the following:

Please cash the check that you received on _____, 2002. By law, once payment is made and the judgment is satisfied you must file with the court a satisfaction of judgment. Please send a copy of the satisfaction, once filed with the court, to me so that the proper agencies can be notified.

By law once he has cashed the check he must file a satisfaction.

Sounds like he is going to play hardball on this one.
