What is the name of your state? What is the name of your state? California

After 8 years of marriage in California, my husband announced he no longer wants to be married. First he mentioned divorce, now he wants a "trial" separation. I recently graduated college, am unemployed and under care with a therapist for depression with meds as well. He earns great money. I plan to apply to vet school/graduatel school but even with that degree I will not make as much as he does (6 fig. income).

Is it advantageous to him to be separated? He plans on continuing paying medical, car payments, insurance, etc plus living expenses. We are selling our house and splitting proceeds equally. I do not want a divorce, but also don't want to be left out in the cold. Will we both benefit from a separation?

Thank you for any help rendered,
gf
