What is the name of your state? pa - if a spouse is after a teacher's retirement funds as marital property in divorce, do they have to wait until the person who has the retirement fund rertires to get the money, or is the person with the retirement required to pay the amount at the time of the divorce? would it be better to negotiate a material possession than agree to split the retirement? it isn't nice to say but the other spouse may die before they even get the retirrement if the case is that they have to wait for it.
