purchased a home june 5th,2002 closing date. before we could close on the house our insurance company went out and checked
out the dwelling insisting that the current home owners replace
the roof due to age and some hail damage. they contacted their insurance co. and their insurance co. came out and issued them a check for $1,365. we took pocession of the home on the 25th of june and the current home owners gave us the check for the roof.we pulled the old shingles off and found rotted decking 32 inches out around the entire perimeter .the roof was 1800 sq. ft.upon futher investigation we found that most of the exterior walls had water damage and rotted wood that would have to be replaced and the interior sides of the exterior walls also. the house was built in 1987 and lived in since 1992 by previous owners we purchased from. before purchasing the current owners
swore the roof never leaked but we found patching as soon as the shingles started coming off, there is know way that they could not have known about all the water damage, after they moved out we found all kinds of signs of water damage..can we hold them liable for damage. any help will be appreciated

There is no lemon law for homes. Post on the Real Estate Law board as this is a real estate seller disclosure question.
