Does a misdeminor stay on your criminal report forever or just a period of time and if so what is length of time. I was charged with a miseminor for theft 13 years ago, forget what class of a misdeminor it was and did 2 days in jail.
Reason asking: On employment apps. they always seem to ask if you have been charge with a crime, etc. I figure if a misdeminor stays on a report for a period of time, then why check "yes"
Thanks in advance for any answers

All arrests stay in the police files forever. All convictions stay on the courts computer forever. If this was a deferred sentence and the court dismissed the charge at the end of the successful completion of the deferred sentence, then you may file for expungement of the record. This is a relatively easy process. The court's clerk can give you a card indicating how to do this. You must file with the Court where the charge was pled.
