Employer continually verbally abused employee in the presence of other employees, call employee incompetent, and required employee to work long hours with no breaks. Employee was continually yelled at, told he/she was inadequate in all respects to the job, never gave praise, only wanted control (power). Employer after accusing employee of being incompetent gave her/him errands and jobs to do that required competence. The last pay day, March 15, 2000, employee received a check through the 14th, minus overtime pay because, "you're incompetent and will not pay you for overtime". Additionally, employee was only paid through the 14th, yet worked through the 15th, presented for work on the 16th and after lunch was requested to resign. Specifically, "Do you have a problem with resigning?" and told employee they could leave as soon as possible (not now, not don't come back). What do you think the possibilities are for retribution with regard to this kind of treatment? Thank you for any assistance.
