What is the name of your state? minnesota

my ex- husband and i were common law married in iowa in 1978 i have lived in minnesota for the past six years and he in nebraska neither of which recognizes common law marriages how do i go about getting a divorce so i can marry someone else? everything i've read says that you file in the state that you reside in but, if minnesota doesn't recognize common law marriages how can i file a divorce for a marriage that's not recognized?
