I work in a retail environment in Michigan. Prior to my "new assignment" I was in a merchandising postition (completing resets) that involved a lot of heavy lifting, etc. which I cannot continue at the moment due to my pregnancy, while in this position, I was making a great deal of money. My doctor has put me on "Light Duty" medical restriction until my baby is born. My employer then issued me another assignment--attached to this new assignment is a gross cut in pay.
They have told me that this position is the only position that they have available for me. Can they by law cut my pay like this because I'm pregnant? Thank you.
