I was divorced in February 2002 and we reached a settlement agreement without the services of an attorney. My ex is now refusing to abide by the terms of the settlement ($10,000 cash). What can I do?

My response:

Assuming that your agreement was signed by the judge, and thereby became the order of the court, then take him back to court by filing and serving him with an "Order to Show Cause Re: Contempt of Court."

Let him explain to the judge why he's breaching the agreement and disobeying the court's order. Once he's given the choice of going to jail or paying you, I imagine he'll make the right choice.
