I have heard that recording employees at work is legal for employers to do,If this is so,is it also the employees right to tape record the employer or the asst. during the smae time?

You will need to check your own State's Criminal or Penal Codes for specifics, but in California, the law is as follows:

Ca Penal § 632 prohibits the surreptitious recording "by means of any electronic amplification or recording device" without the consent of all parties. [Ca Penal § 632(a); see Frio v. Sup.Ct. (Ierace), supra, 203 Cal.App.3d at 1489, 250 Cal.Rptr. at 823]

Participant recording: Even a party to a confidential conversation is prohibited from recording the conversation without the consent of all other parties thereto. [See Frio v. Sup.Ct. (Ierace), supra]
