Battery in self-defense

What is the name of your state? Florida
is self-defense a viable defense for battery? a friend was being assaulted with a baseball bat and swung to prevent her head from being bashed in. is she guilty?

Yes. She will go to jail for assaulting a person assaulting her with a deadly weapon, without a deadly weapon.

It is called AGGRAVATED ASSAULT. If person doesn't have a weapon, but hit that person, then other person struck back with the baseball bat, it is not a self defense. But on the other side, if person have a weapon like knife, then that other person can use the baseball bat.
