State--PA...All involved were resident's of PA....

Rear ended by driver who has no insurance..The State Police made report and took down all information and stated that it was the other driver's fault. We contacted his insurance company and were given a claim number, but after a week were told that the day the accident happened..This driver was not insured and renewed his policy after this date...The company suggested we get a lawyer and go after the driver....Anybody have any suggestions...In the meanwhile..we will go through our insurance to repair our car...

Generally drivers who are insured do not have much as far as assets to collect from. Not always the case but generally true. Best protection for this is uninsured motorist coverage. Any agent doing their job will make sure you have the coverage. Look there first.

Suggest talking to a good seasoned personal injury injury lawyer on this. You will get some good information on these issues and can then decide how to proceed. It costs nothing to talk to the best lawyers.
