In Aug. my husband was rearended. No major injuries, although he was sore for a few days. No medical was needed. The car was totaled. ('86 Olds). It seemed, the other driver gave false info. (phone # and such). Is it reasonable to request a little more than the value of the car?

Maybe

It depends who you are claiming it against. You ins. or there's.
You can ask for lost wages, if any.

Actually, you can 'request' any amount you desire.... the key is what will the adjuster agree to.

So don't start spending 'your' money yet.... it is VERY likely that their number will be less than your number. Especially for an 86 Olds.
