We are currently in the process of adopting a child. We were told by our attorney that the total cost should be in the range of $8,500 to $10,500 for everything (including their fees, court costs and the home study). We have an estimate, in which we signed, that stated the estimated legal hours spent on this case would be approximately 30 - 40 hours. We recently fond out that their billable time is up around the 70 hour range with additional time to be billed. We are estimating around 85 hours. This is an additional $8,500. We feel we have been misled. Do we have a case to knock down some of this billable time? We feel their is a lot of unnecessary or duplicate billing. Thanks!
