What is the name of your state? Maryland - i work for the fed gov. i filed for divorce. i need to know if my ex will be intitled to my retirement? we had a short marriage and i don't have a lawyer. is there anything i should be careful with doing this my self. we don't have anything to fight over. we spilt our bills. so far no problem with the divorce

Please correct me if I am wrong here but MD is NOT a community property state, right? So he would not be automatically entitled to your retirement.
