I have been holding on to a marriage that was clearly over a few years ago. My husband is verbally abusive when he gets intoxicated. We cannot go out socially without a scene of some sort. He doesn't like my friends and does not like for me to have any independence. He uses the children to make me feel guilty and I feel very controlled and unhappy. We live in a fairly new house that is on his family's property. I'm the breadwinner in the family and he would not be able to pay the mortgage and part of other debts if we separate and I leave. My name is on virtually everything we have. Any suggestions?
