What is the name of your state? Mississippi

If a biological father has not seen or had any contact with children in 2 years and has not sent any support to them in almost 1 year can his paternal rights be terminated without his consent? My new husband wants to adopt them.

Among the reasons for termination of parental rights in Mississippi that may apply to you:

Abandonment or extreme parental disinterest,
Failure of reasonable efforts,
Failure to maintain contact,
Child's best interests

There are many other reasons due to felony convictions, drug or alcohol addiction, abuse, mental illness, etc.

The stepparent adoption laws were set up specifically for situations like yours.

Find a family attorney and ask for a consultation. You have a "do-able" case. Good luck.
